Below you will find information on how to learn about and elect your employee benefits through WSSD:
When can I enroll or opt out of benefits?
New Hires – for eligibility date pleased refer to your collective bargaining agreement or your compensation plan.
Please note that even if you opt out of benefits, you may will still need to designate beneficiaries for some employer paid benefits.
How do I enroll?
You may speak with a benefits counselor and enroll in your benefits over the phone from 9am to 8pm Monday through Friday by calling 1-866-908-3574.
Where can I find information on benefits?
Scroll to the bottom of this page and select the tile associate with your contracted position per your CBA or employment agreement.
How do I submit Evidence of Insurability if I elected LTD or Life insurance coverage and when do I need it?
As a new hire you have a one time opportunity to elect certain levels of coverage at Guaranteed amounts without any medical exams. If you enroll in coverage after your initial 31-day eligibility window following your hire date, you must complete an Evidence of Insurability (EOI). The EOI must be submitted within 30 days of your benefit election. The insurance carrier will review your submission and notify you of approval or denial. Please note: if the carrier does not receive your EOI within 30 days, your coverage will be withdrawn. You may re-elect coverage during the next Open Enrollment period, subject to EOI approval.

Change of Family Status and Qualified Life Events
Certain life events trigger a special enrollment period for you to make various changes to your benefits outside of Open Enrollment.

What qualifies as a Qualified Life Event?
An expanded list of life events that qualify an individual for a special benefits enrollment period can be found by clicking on the “FAQ” tile below.
When can I enroll or opt out of benefits?
You can make changes to your benefits within 30 days for certain Qualified Life Events.
What if I have a qualifying life event (QLE) after Open Enrollment and need to make changes to my benefits?
If you experience a QLE, you must notify Human Resources (H.R.) withing 30 days of the Qualifying Event and provide proof/supporting documentation. If approved, H.R. will email you to chedule a meeting to finalize your approved QLE benefit selections.
How do I enroll?
For QLE, send Human Resources the life event documentation and then contact Eileen Seichepine ([email protected]) in Human Resources.

Password (PIN): Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number followed by the last 2 digits of your birth year.
Evidence of Insurability:

Dependent Age Outs:

Dependents are covered under your Health, Prescription, Dental and Vision benefits until the end of the month day they turn age 26.
EXAMPLE:

Jane Smith’s child, Robert, turns 26 on April 9th, 2025. Coverage will end on April 30th, 2025. Any new coverage Robert might elect will want to be effective May 1, 2025.

COBRA-eligible dependents will receive a letter for an opportunity to elect COBRA once their coverage ends.
